Admin users control who in your business can use MCP. You can switch access off for one person, or turn MCP off for the entire business in one action.
Who can do this
Only Admin users can manage other people's access or disable MCP.
If you are not an Admin, you can only view and disconnect your own connections. For more details, see the article: How to View and Disconnect My MCP Connections.
Blocking a single user
Use this when one person should not use MCP but the rest of the business should.
On your Aspire dashboard, click "Settings" in the left navigation bar (web app) or click "Menu" and choose "Settings" (mobile app).
Click "MCP" then "Manage MCP connections".
Open the "All users" tab.
Find the user. You can sort, filter, or use the status filter to show only "Connected", "Not connected" or "Blocked" users.
Switch the "MCP access" toggle off for that user.
Read the confirmation and confirm.
A success message appears at the bottom of the screen and the user moves to the "Blocked" group.
Notes:
If the user is currently connected, the confirmation will also tell you that their existing connections will be revoked.
Blocking applies to all AI clients and all tools, no matter which tools are enabled for the business.
Unblocking a user
Go to the "All users" tab.
Switch the "MCP access" toggle back on for that user.
They move to "Not connected". Once they connect an AI client again, they move to "Connected".
Disabling MCP for your entire business
"Disable MCP" is the fastest way to stop all AI access to your business data.
Go to "Settings" then "MCP".
Click "Disable MCP" at the bottom of the menu. It appears in red.
Read the confirmation. It will tell you that all existing connections will be revoked for every connected user.
Confirm.
What happens after you disable MCP
Every existing connection is revoked, for every user and every AI client.
No new AI requests are accepted anywhere in your business. Anyone whose AI client tries will get a message saying business data is not available because MCP is disabled for the organisation.
This overrides individual and tool-level settings. A user cannot switch MCP back on for themselves.
"Manage MCP connections" and "Manage tool permissions" are hidden. "View audit logs" stays available.
A banner appears showing which Admin disabled MCP and on what date, with an "Enable" option. Only Admin users see this banner.
Turning MCP back on
MCP does not switch back on by itself.
Go to "Settings" then "MCP".
Click "Enable" in the banner.
When you re-enable:
Your per-tool settings are restored but to restore your connections, you will have to reconnect again from your AI provider
Only eligible users regain access. Anyone you blocked individually stays blocked until you switch their toggle back on.
How do I stop one person from using MCP?
Go to "Manage MCP connections",
Open the "All users" tab, and switch that user's "MCP access" toggle off.
Confirm when prompted.
Does blocking someone remove their existing connections?
Yes, if they are currently connected. The confirmation will tell you before you proceed.
Does blocking apply to every AI client?
Yes. A blocked user cannot connect through any AI client, whatever tools are enabled for the business.
Can a user turn MCP back on for themselves?
No. The business-level setting overrides individual and tool-level settings.
Can I still see audit logs after disabling MCP?
Yes. Audit logs stay available. "Manage MCP connections" and "Manage tool permissions" are hidden.
Does MCP switch back on automatically?
No. An Admin has to click "Enable" in the banner.
Do I lose my settings when I disable MCP?
No. Re-enabling restores previous connections and your per-tool settings.
Will blocked users get access back when I re-enable MCP?
No. Only eligible users regain access. Anyone blocked individually stays blocked until you switch their toggle back on.
How do I know who disabled MCP?
A banner in "Settings" then "MCP" shows which Admin disabled it and on what date. Only Admin users see this banner.
