Before You Begin: Understanding Access Permissions
Only Admin users have the authority to remove other users from your Aspire account. However, the specific type of Admin matters:
Director Admin users can remove any user, including other Admin users
Non-Director Admin users can remove Finance, Employee, and Accountant users
If you're a Finance or Employee user who needs to request a removal, please reach out to an Admin within your organization. You can check your current role by viewing your profile information below your business account name when logged into Aspire.
Admin users can watch our video guide or follow the detailed steps below.
Removing Finance, Employee, or Accountant Users
When team members with Finance, Employee, or Accountant roles leave your organization or no longer require access, Admin users can remove their permissions quickly.
The user's access will be removed immediately.
Removing Admin User Access
The process varies depending on who's initiating the removal and whether you're removing a Director Admin or Non-Director Admin.
Understanding When Admin Removal Takes Effect
The timing and process for removing Admin access depend on the roles involved, ensuring proper authorization for these sensitive changes.
Who's Removing Access | User Being Removed | How It Works |
Director Admin | Non-Director Admin | Access is removed immediately upon confirmation |
Director Admin | Director Admin | The affected Director Admin must acknowledge the removal before it takes effect* |
Non-Director Admin | Non-Director Admin | Requires assistance from a Director Admin or Support team** |
Non-Director Admin | Director Admin | The affected Director Admin must acknowledge the removal before it takes effect* |
*Why acknowledgment is required: When a Director Admin's access is being revoked, they'll receive an email notification asking them to confirm the action. Once they acknowledge the removal, they'll be logged out automatically, and their access will be revoked.
**Alternative methods for Non-Director Admin removal: If you're a Non-Director Admin who needs to remove another Non-Director Admin, you have several options:
Ask the Non-Director Admin to contact our Support team directly to request their own access removal.
Request a Director Admin within your organization to process the removal.
Submit a request to our Support Team for the manual removal of another non-director admin user.
What if an Admin Hasn't Confirmed Their Access Removal?
There may be situations where you need to remove an Admin's access urgently, but they haven't logged in to acknowledge the removal request. In these cases, please contact our Support team in the Aspire app.
Our team will work with you to manually process the removal with appropriate authorization.
Note: if you're not currently a user on the Aspire account, you'll need to coordinate with an existing Admin to submit this request on your behalf.
Removing Your Own Admin Access
If you're an Admin user who needs to remove your own access—perhaps due to a role change or departure from the organization—the process requires Support team assistance.
Please contact our Support team via the Aspire app to initiate your access removal. This process typically takes up to 5 business days to complete, allowing time for proper transition and verification.
Note: If you're the only Admin on your Aspire account, you'll need to designate or onboard a new Admin before your access can be removed.
Cancelling Pending User Invitations
