Pre-EIN Onboarding

What is Pre-EIN onboarding?

Pre-EIN onboarding lets US businesses that have incorporated — but haven't yet received their IRS-issued EIN (Employer Identification Number) — open a full Aspire account while the EIN is still being processed. It's designed for newly incorporated founders who'd otherwise be stuck waiting weeks for the IRS.

Who is eligible for Pre-EIN onboarding?

It's currently available only to businesses referred by one of Aspire's incorporation partners. It isn't yet available to businesses signing up directly through Aspire's website or app.

I don't have my EIN yet — what do I provide instead?

You'll submit your SS-4 (the form your incorporation partner files with the IRS to request your EIN) in place of the EIN during onboarding. This is accepted as proof that your EIN is on the way.

Will my account have any limits while I wait for my EIN?

No — Pre-EIN accounts get full account access from day one.

How long do I have to provide my actual EIN?

90 days from the date your account is opened. Your incorporation partner or Aspire will remind you as this window gets closer.

What happens if I don't provide my EIN within 75 days?

Documentation must be submitted before the 75-day review deadline to allow time for verification. If it's not received and approved in time, account functionality may remain restricted, and the account may be scheduled for closure on Day 90 from account opening. You'll receive advance notice as the deadline approaches, and any closure follows applicable notice.

How do I submit my EIN once I receive it?

You can upload it yourself through the Aspire app flow once you have it.

I also don't have proof of US nexus — what happens then?

If both your EIN and proof of nexus are outstanding, the more restrictive limitation applies — meaning the USD 25,000 transaction cap from the Pre-Nexus program applies, along with a 90-day duration.

Does providing my EIN early speed things up?

Yes — as soon as your EIN is verified, restrictions are lifted immediately; you don't need to wait out the full window.

Is Pre-EIN onboarding available outside the US?

No, this is a US-only program tied to the IRS EIN process.
