What Happens if I Upgrade or Downgrade Multiple Times?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Note: The Premium Plan is currently in beta. If you're interested in activating the Premium Plan, please reach out to our Support team via the Aspire app.

If you upgrade or downgrade your Aspire Premium plan multiple times, your benefit usage behaves differently depending on when the plan change occurs.

If you downgrade, then upgrade again in the same calendar month

Your benefit usage is cumulative and does not reset with each plan change. Aspire continues to track your usage from where you left off to ensure consistent and fair access to your Premium benefits.

Example 1 – FX at Mid-Market Rate:

  • You upgraded to Premium on July 5 and used SGD 7,000 of your SGD 13,000 FX quota.

  • You downgraded on July 15 and upgraded again on July 25.

  • When you upgrade again in the same month, you still have SGD 6,000 remaining, not a fresh SGD 13,000.

  • The quota does not refresh.

Example 2 – International Transfers:

  • You upgraded on July 3 and used 1 out of 5 no-fee international transfers.

  • You downgraded on July 10, then upgraded again on July 28.

  • You still have 4 no-fee transfers remaining.

  • The count does not reset or increase.

If you upgrade in a new calendar month

If you upgrade again in a new calendar month, your monthly Premium benefits will reset, as long as the subscription fee is successfully deducted from your Aspire SGD Account on the 1st of that month.

Example

  • You downgraded your plan in July after using your full SGD 13,000 mid-market FX quota.

  • On August 1, Aspire successfully deducted the Premium plan fee for your July usage.

  • On August 15, you upgrade to Premium again.

  • Your Premium benefits reset for the month of August: you receive a fresh SGD 13,000 FX quota and 5 no-fee international transfers.

Lifetime quota for Virtual Cards & Metal Card

Some benefits do not reset monthly and are tracked across your account's lifetime. These include virtual card quota and the free metal card.

Virtual Cards (Lifetime Quota Per Plan)

The number of free virtual cards you can create depends on your current plan:

  • Basic Plan: Up to 200 free virtual cards per user

  • Premium Plan: Up to 300 free virtual cards per user

Aspire tracks how many cards you’ve created, and your ability to create more depends on your current plan.

Example

  • You’re on the Basic plan and have created 150 virtual cards

  • You upgrade to Premium, which increases your free virtual card quota to 300

  • You create 60 more cards, bringing your total to 210

  • You then downgrade back to the Basic plan

  • Since the Basic plan has a 200-card limit, you can no longer create additional virtual cards unless you upgrade to the Premium plan.

Notes:

  • Once you reach the virtual card limit for your Premium plan, you won’t be able to create more virtual cards in-app.

  • If you're on the premium plan and need more virtual cards, you can request them by contacting our Support team via the in-app messenger.

Metal Card (One free per Business)

Each business is entitled to one free metal card. Once the free metal card is issued, the quota is considered used, and it will not reset even if you upgrade again later.

Notes:

  • If you cancel your Premium Plan subscription within three (3) months of subscribing, you agree and acknowledge that you are liable to compensate Aspire for the cost of issuing the metal card.

  • Aspire reserves the right to downgrade your subscription plan with immediate effect if we determine that the plan has been abused, including, but not limited to, repeated subscriptions to the Premium Plan, usage of its benefits, and cancellations before the end of the relevant month.
